Kubota&Bachmann Architects is a modern and dynamic architectural firm based
in Zurich, Switzerland. Garnering awards at the international master plan competition
in Zurich and for the Maritime Culture and Pop Music Center in Kaoshiung (Taiwan),
the Kubota&Bachmann Architects GmBH demonstrates competence in a wide range of
architectural disciplines and styles. Its creative team covers all areas of architecture, inte
rior design and urban planning.

Toshihiro Kubota was born on July 20th 1976 in Ibaraki, Japan.
He studied Interior Design at the Creapôle-ESDI in Paris. After his graduation in the year 2000, Toshihiro Kubota began to work as a freelancer for the Ateliers Jean Nouvel (AJN). During this time he contributed to several successful projects for the AJN, winning competitions such as the Copenhagen concert hall and the 5 Geneva train stations CEVA. It was at AJN that Toshihiro Kubota, Yves Bachmann and Francisco Martinez met.
Furthermore, Toshihiro Kubota worked for Shigeru Ban with whom he won the competition of Metz Pompidou Centre Museum in France.
In 2006 Toshihiro Kubota was personally invited to participate in the second phase of the Seoul Performing Art Centre’s competition, where he came in second place. By 2007, he was promoted to design partner, working directly with Jean Nouvel. Within the next two years he won the competitions for the Paris Philharmonic and the Atlantic 3000 casino complex in Los Angeles.
In 2011, Toshihiro Kubota and Yves Bachmann founded Kubota&Bachmann Architects GmbH in Zurich, Switzerland.
In 2013 he graduated from ENSAPLV in Paris where he obtained his diploma as an EU Qualified Architect.

Yves Bachmann was born on December 9th 1975 in Zurich, Switzerland.
He studied Architecture at the University of Applied Sciences in Burgdorf where he obtained his diploma in 2001. After graduation, Yves Bachmann worked for the Atelier Jean Nouvel (AJN) in Paris. His position as a project manager included the supervision of several prestigious projects, among others assignments for the Sheikh Saoud Bin Mohammed al Thani from Qatar. It was around this time Yves Bachmann met Toshihiro Kubota and Francisco Martinez at AJN.
Following his time in France, Yves Bachmann co-operated with Iria Degen Interiors on projects in South Africa and Switzerland until he joined the management board of Iria Degen Interiors in 2006. During this period he was in charge of projects like the Lagoon Beach Hotel in Capetown, the Swiss railways headquarters in Zurich, the Metropol and Globus restaurants in Zurich as well as several luxury homes and apartments.
In 2011, Toshihiro Kubota and Yves Bachmann founded Kubota&Bachmann Architects GmbH in Zurich, Switzerland.

Francisco Martinez was born on July 10th 1976 in Alicante, Spain.
He studied Architecture at the ETSAV in Valencia and Ecole d´Architecture de Paris la Defense. Francisco started as a junior architect at Ateliers Jean Nouvel in 2000, joining the Agbar Tower project team. In a 6-year time between Paris and Barcelona, he followed the project from the first concept sketches to the on-site construction supervision, ending as facade design manager and project manager for the interior design. Francisco met Toshiiro Kubota and Yves Bachmann in Ateliers Jean Nouvel, Paris.
Francisco combines architecture & urban practice with research on artificial light & public space, exploring the boundaries between built space, human interactions and augmented perception, in collaboration with the school of Fine Arts and the school of Architecture of Valencia, Spain.
In 2010, Francisco Martinez joined OMA (Office for Metropolitan Architecture, Rem Koolhaas) as the freelance project leader of the Caen Library project. The building, under construction, is scheduled to be completed in 2016.
After several years of separated paths, Francisco restarts collaborations with Kubota&Bachmann Architects in 2012 as a designer for several projects and competitions, and becomes partner of the firm in 2013.
